Below is an overview of our branded products and their typical applications.

Our Branded Products

lahnur®

lahnur® is our newest speciality paper and combines aesthetics, feel and sustainability in one material. It unites lightness and resilience—and impresses with a unique tactile quality. lahnur® is designed for long-term use and recycling, and can later be returned to the raw-material cycle—without plastic coatings and without compromise. Thanks to an innovative formulation, lahnur® is fully recyclable in the waste-paper stream yet extraordinarily robust. Its naturally matte surface and soft-touch feel convey premium quality. Typical applications include hang tags and packaging for fashion and luxury goods as well as sustainable print products (books, magazines, bib numbers).

neobond®

neobond® stands for synthetic specialty substrates offering exceptional longevity. The material combines a paper-like appearance with almost plastic-like toughness. It consists of a cellulose–synthetic-fiber blend that is specially impregnated and double-sided coated—making it extremely tear- and fold-resistant even when wet. neobond® also remains dimensionally stable, light-fast and resistant to water and many chemicals. Typical uses are documents and ID papers that must last for years (e.g. vehicle papers, certificates) as well as hard-wearing tickets, labels or catalogues that have to withstand high stress.

pretex®

pretex® is an impregnated specialty paper for all cases where normal paper fails. Embedded synthetic fibers and a special impregnation make pretex® both waterproof and extraordinarily tear-resistant. The material stays dimensionally stable when wet and meets aging-resistance standards. pretex® prints excellently (available in coated and uncoated versions) and thus combines the printability of paper with the durability of plastic. Typical applications range from maps and technical manuals to weather-proof posters and banners, and robust labels on building materials or plants where high durability is essential.

lahnit®

lahnit® is not a classic paper but a specially coated BOPP polypropylene film. Thanks to its double-sided coating lahnit® delivers outstanding color brilliance and print resolution similar to photo paper, yet is far more robust. The film remains dimensionally stable across a wide temperature range (-10 °C to +110 °C), is water- and UV-resistant and offers high stiffness and strength. It is therefore ideal for print products that must withstand extreme conditions—for example long-life outdoor signs and posters, durable bar-code and inventory labels, plant tags or membership and admission cards (e.g. ski passes) as a tear-proof alternative to paper.

Our Fields of Application

Security Papers

Security papers are specialty papers developed for maximum tamper and forgery protection. They feature high strength (wet and dry) and can incorporate security elements (e.g. fluorescent fibers, watermarks). Ideal for IDs, certificates, tickets or diplomas that must remain legible and protected against counterfeiting. Authorities, security printers and event organizers rely on these papers to secure sensitive documents and access media.

Technical Papers

In the Technical Papers segment LAHNPAPER offers solution-oriented materials for industry and engineering. These include high-strength specialty papers and nonwovens designed for technical processing. Typical fields: release liners, materials for the wood-based-panel industry, base materials for adhesive tapes or special packaging for chemical and mechanical stress. Wherever paper must meet extraordinary requirements—such as high temperature resistance, special absorbency or extreme tear strength—our technical papers are the answer.

Printing Papers

Our printing papers are specialty materials for durable, high-quality print products. They combine first-class printability with extreme durability and unique haptics. Whether long-lasting catalogues, index sheets and teaching material or innovative media for outdoor advertising—these papers ensure that print products withstand intensive use and weathering. Publishers, printers and sign makers will find the ideal substrate for long-term brilliant results indoors and outdoors.

FAQ

What are speciality papers?

Specialty papers are paper grades with particular properties or functions developed for specific applications. The term covers all papers that do not belong to standard categories such as printing or packaging papers. Produced by specialized manufacturers, these papers are used wherever conventional paper reaches its limits—for example when extreme tear resistance, weather resistance or technical functionality is needed, or to achieve special visual or tactile effects in design.

What are examples of speciality papers?

Examples include weather-proof maps and posters, tear-resistant labels and signage for outdoor use; security papers (like banknote or ID paper with watermark) for documents; decorative textured papers for premium packaging and creative print projects; and technical filter papers for industrial processes. All these specialized paper products are purpose-built and fall under the term specialty paper.

What qualifies as a speciality paper?

Essentially any paper specifically developed for a defined purpose and possessing properties beyond those of normal paper counts as a specialty paper. Such papers often have a special composition or treatment—e.g. reinforcement with synthetic fibers or unique coatings—to achieve exceptional performance characteristics. Key is that they are tailored for demanding industrial, printing, design or security applications and are therefore usually produced by specialty-paper manufacturers.
